Summary
The blog explores key open-source technology trends shaping modern software development and digital innovation. It highlights the growing influence of technologies such as Kubernetes, cloud computing, big data analytics, machine learning, and blockchain in the open-source ecosystem. The article also discusses the role of open-source frameworks, CMS platforms, and RESTful API-based development in accelerating application development. As organizations increasingly rely on open-source tools for flexibility and scalability, these trends continue to drive collaboration, innovation, and cost-effective technology adoption across industries.
Open Source Technology Trends 2022 will play a pivotal role in modern computing, particularly in application development and IT infrastructure.
With open source’s rapid rise in prominence, the trends remain relatively obscure to the world. Open Source being the ground zero for technology development definitely has become the preferred way of growing hot new technology, particularly for startups. The open-source juggernaut is set to sail in 2022.
Rise of Kubernetes
Kubernetes is an open-source system to automate deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications to leverage on-premises, hybrid, or public cloud infrastructure. Kubernetes allows scaling without increasing the ops team.
Fog Computing
Fog computing is a distributed network connecting edge computing and Cloud or IoT. The core idea of a distributed network that connects different environments. Fog computing frameworks provide more choices to process data when appropriate. Fog computing is used for enhancing the privacy of data. Thus data can be locally analyzed instead of sent that to a centralized system, which might affect its privacy. Fog computing also helps in developing various web applications with the help of a range of tools that fog computing supports.
Big Data will get Bigger and Better
Big data will continue to get bigger and better. Open-source technologies will continue to make big data into the future. Big data is a popular choice in business operations as it facilitates several kinds of activities. Starting from data storing and management, to mapping customer tastes and preferences, big data has emerged as the recent savior of business companies. With the growth in digital operations, the scope and use of big data is likely to increase further.
Open Source and the Cloud Factor
With most IT departments willing to avoid installing and maintaining applications locally when possible, the Cloud is becoming the chosen platform for open source applications. And the trend is not just limited to small app developers; even Microsoft Office 365 is a semi-cloud offering including its chief rival Google Apps.
There is also a growing momentum where Linux is evolving to support an environment in which the ‘computer’ is increasingly a complex of connected systems rather than a single discrete server.
Open Source Security
What makes open source solutions the big fat targets is their rising popularity and ubiquity, which also makes the industry take notice and collaboratively fund (once woefully under-resourced) projects like OpenSSL.
The term open-source software refers to a publicly accessible code that any user can modify and share. Open Source technology is the modern requirement as it offers several benefits.
As the use and popularity of open Source have increased, the threat factor has increased due to data breaches such as vulnerabilities attacks. However, this does not imply that enterprises will overlook the benefits.
Along with this, to be on the safer side and avoid risks, several practices reduce the chances of attacks and turn the software secure.
Data Encryption
This is the foremost and basic way to secure the whole data and encrypt your entire data to encode a message or information. This technique must be applied to all data. Along with this, it can be easily used.

Open Source Promote RESTful API-Based Development
Open source projects are set to promote software development practices based on RESTful APIs. Not only will this become more instrumental in providing app back-end services and other functionality, but even other vendors are also open sourcing their own homegrown API-based projects – such as working in the back-end for mobile, Web, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
Open Source is everywhere…
Do you know that approximately over 100 million code lines go into an average high-end car nowadays? Businesses nowadays have to handle large codebases made up of thousands of developed apps, apart from the different technologies in play – web, mobile and embedded.
Open Source technology is an integral part of application development. So, while you get ready to embrace Open Source Technology Trends’ usage in 2022, you also need to understand that open source is not as such ‘free’ – it comes with its own risks and rewards.
