During early June, if rumors are to be believed, Google was planning to buy Songza. Finally, on Tuesday, 1st July 2014, Google announced its acquisition of Songza Media Inc. This startup – Songza has brought an idea of creating a playlist depending on the mood of a listener.

According to Facebook page of Songza – a unique player in the world of song streaming giant it was founded in 2007 and is based in New York. Instead of providing users with songs and albums in bulk, it provides the songs in a form of playlist. The various playlists formed have filters depending on moods, environment or theme. It is available for Android and iOS users.

The web-search company said, that Google will not perform any modifications as of now to change the song service. No facts regarding financial agreement or the deal between Google and Songza. As Google believe that it will all depend how Songza works in ‘play store’ and other features too.

“They’ve built a great service which uses contextual expert-curated playlists to give you the right music at the right time,” Google said. Spokesperson from Google said “We view the Songza acquisition as a way to further enhance our radio feature by adding their expertise on context”

Google has made a mark in music streaming service in order to give a tough competition to Apple, Amazon and Microsoft. In May, Apple said they would purchase Beats Electronics LLC because of the streaming Beats Music business. Even in Amazon introduced Prime Music – its own streaming music service.
